This song found its way to my inbox yesterday from two people, one in DC and one in LA. Since it’s hitting both coasts right now, so I thought I’d share it for everyone in the middle as well. I do love me some Kelis, has there ever been a stupider yet catchier song than “Milkshake”!? Probably not. “Acapella” is a much less stupid and almost as catchy. The tempo is already club-worthy with a great bass line that’ll get those feet moving. Her voice has a Donna Summer-esque quality to it which I think is a nice sound for her. It definitely needs to be played while bright lights bounce off an immense disco ball spinning overhead.

Christina Not Myself


Hey kids…here is Christina’s new single “Not Myself Tonight”. I like the song, she’s back to her dancy pop roots and the rumors I’ve heard about her going a bit more electro are true. There’s definitely potential for a great album here, especially when she’s employed the likes of Sia, M.I.A., Santigold, Goldfrapp, Le Tigre, Linda Perry and Ladytron. Enjoy!

OK, I have to be honest, I’ve never heard of this guy before this song but I definitely need to listen to other tracks he’s put out. Har Mar, otherwise known as Sean Tillmann, has opened for The Strokes, Incubus, Tenacious D and The Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Who is this guy!? “Tall Boy” was originally written for Britney Spears but after her management rejected the song he put it on his 2009 album Dark Touches. Props for not changing the pronouns. The original is good, but this remix takes it to another level. Added synths and harder beats makes it a great dance song, one that would actually sound at home on a Sam Sparro album. I’ll probably be scouring the interwebs for more on this guy. Anyone who looks like Ron Jeremy and sounds like J.Timberlake definitely needs to be heard.

Sophie Ellis-Bextor – Bittersweet (Freemasons Radio Edit)

Here is SE-B’s new poptastic song “Bittersweet” with the video which was released on Tuesday. It’s a pure of heart pop song, which is what we can expect from Sophie, who has created some of the catchiest songs in the last decade…how I was ever able to get “Murder on the Dancefloor” out of my head is a miracle. After it the track dropped a few weeks ago, Freemasons got a hold of it and made it even better. Enjoy!

I’m taking a short break in my Freemasons Week to bring you MGMT’s sophomore album Congratulations. I gave this a quick run-through last night and was a bit disappointed with what I heard. After the quick 9 song album was over, I didn’t remember one catchy hook or even a song that could be deemed a single. My ears perked up a bit at the album’s title track and I do need to listen to the epic 12 minute “Siberian Breaks” again. However, there is definitely no “Time to Pretend”, “Kids”, or even “Electric Feel” song here. I was hoping for at least one. So far, the best thing about this album is the artwork. I will give it a few more spins and see if I can understand their direction. Until then, give it a listen and let me know what your favorite song is.
