Empress – Captain (Video)

Janee and the boys of Empress have been busy! They are popping up in all corners of the interwebs, and we here at C&B couldn’t be happier.

We first brought you Empress back in May and I posted last month about their latest single ‘Captain‘, which is now set to get a proper release including a video, and EP of remixes. This is just the beginning from the group, and I am very excited for more!

Empress – Captain

“Captain you’re in charge, take me I’m yours.”

The 5 members of Empress have been very busy this summer, from touring the festivals circuit, concerts all around the U.K. and continuing to pump new tracks for us to enjoy. I first mentioned Empress in one of my very first posts as an official member of the C&B team. Over the last 3 months (wow has it really been that long?!) Empress has not slowed down one bit. Their latest offering ‘Captain’ continues where ‘Celebrity’ and ‘Dancefloor’ started.

Again they instantly hook you with an incredibly sexy and sultry lead in! After catching you in their trap,  Janee’s vocals continue to pull and entice you in, while the percussion driven music rhythmically whirl around you. There are definitely moments where Janee almost has a certain Madonna-esque, a la Ray of Light LP, vibe, which is quite lovely; crisp, strong and beautiful. Empress has again created something, sexy, fun, and as always completely all their own.

If you like what you hear, head over to facebook and show them how much you “like” them. For more information on their latest shows and stops head over to MySpace. Not to worry we will have more from Empress to share coming very soon.

Fresh Brewed…Empress

Empress

Pop music should be infectious. It should make you tap your feet, nod your head and – if not stuck in an unforgivingly sterile cubicle – shake your ass. The songs being released by newly-formed group, Empress, are infectious, and they might have what it takes to unleash a full-fledged, electro-pop plague. There is no escaping their hooks and the sweet vocals of front-woman Janee.

Formed just over 6 months ago with members from all over England, the group draws influence from electro, indie, urban and dance. If Dragonette, Mini Viva and Little Boots were some how able to create a love child this would be the result.

‘Celebrity’ – Everyone secretly want to be famous, right? Unafraid of ruffling a few feathers or causing a scene, the indie-rock energy comes through loud a clear with driving riffs and a back beat that pounds right down your spine. Check out the video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4F8-138L4m8

‘Dancefloor’ - Right from the start, this song has a hard synth riff that lures you in until the hook drops and completely consumes you. Warning: this song WILL get stuck in your head.

Those of you out there hungry to have a little piece of Empress for your very own iPod the band will be making their music available shortly.  To stay in the loop be sure to check out them on MySpace www.myspace.com/helloempress and hear other tracks including ‘Superficial Girls’, the “Anti-Barbie Girl”.  If you are a Facebook fiend, find them at http://www.facebook.com/pages/Empress/235188452490 and show them how much you ‘like’ ‘em.
